Chewy, headquartered in Plantation, Florida, operates a significant corporate office in Bellevue, Washington, established in 2021, where around 700 employees work across various functions. Bellevue is one of four corporate hubs for the company, which also has offices in Boston and Minneapolis.
The Chewy Vet Care clinic provides routine and urgent care services from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, while remaining closed on Wednesdays. For specialized surgeries, the clinic plans to collaborate with outside specialists to ensure continuity of care. Malhotra mentioned that in some cases, they may refer clients to emergency hospitals while maintaining communication and sharing medical records.
The decision to open the clinic in Redmond was influenced by research indicating a proactive, health-oriented pet owner demographic in King County. Notably, 91% of Seattle pet owners visit a veterinarian annually, with 59% having multiple visits per year. Additionally, 65% report that wellness exams are the primary reason for their veterinary visits.
Chewy's findings highlight that 77% of local pet households own at least one dog, and many dog owners actively enjoy outdoor spaces such as parks and trails, as well as pet-friendly restaurants and breweries. Malhotra emphasized that pet owners in the area tend to invest significantly in their pets' health, making Redmond an ideal location for their expanded veterinary services.
With the opening in Redmond, Chewy Vet Care now operates 24 locations across states including Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Washington. This year, Chewy also acquired Modern Animal Inc., which has 29 clinics primarily in California and Texas. This acquisition is seen as a strategic move towards creating an integrated pet healthcare ecosystem that combines in-person care with existing online services.
In its 2025 fiscal year, Chewy reported $12.6 billion in net sales. The company has experienced triple-digit revenue growth in Chewy Vet Care, according to its latest financial reporting.
Malhotra, who joined Chewy in 2018, explained that the move into veterinary care follows the establishment of Chewy Pharmacy and a broader healthcare division, recognizing gaps in access to affordable pet healthcare. The vision for Chewy Vet Care is to provide comprehensive care that extends beyond telehealth by integrating physical veterinary services into their offerings.
