At the shelter, staff initially crafted a small wheelchair for Gelato using cardboard, zip ties, and Hot Wheels before an engineer developed a more durable 3D-printed version. When he became available for adoption, the shelter indicated that his new family would need to collaborate with a veterinarian for ongoing therapy. Additionally, Gelato needs assistance with urination, and his litter box training is still in progress.

After several months of physical therapy, Cincinnati Animal CARE announced on October 12 that Gelato has found his forever home. The shelter expressed gratitude to everyone who supported his journey by following his story or donating to his fundraiser.
