Two Adoptable Cats, Alfredo and Chai, Seeking New Homes in Columbus

Alfredo is a playful black-and-white kitten approximately 4 to 5 months old, born with improperly formed back legs. Despite this, Furer stated he is active and playful. “He still gets around super-duper well,” she noted. Alfredo can walk, navigate stairs, and use a low-sided litter box independently. He enjoys playing with other kittens and is sociable. His future owner will be encouraged to maintain his mobility through exercises that Colony Cats & Dogs will teach. “He’s a super happy kitten,” Furer added, emphasizing the potential for a long, healthy life with the right care.

Chai, on the other hand, is around 3 to 4 years old, known for her beautiful coloring and love for cuddling. Furer found her in her backyard while spaying and neutering local cats. Initially apprehensive when brought inside, Chai soon revealed her friendly nature. “As you can tell, she wants all the cuddles,” Furer remarked. Although Chai is independent, she prefers a peaceful environment and requires gradual introductions to new feline companions.

To adopt either Alfredo or Chai, interested individuals should submit an application via the Colony Cats & Dogs website. Once approved, they can schedule a meeting to meet the cats. Currently, Alfredo is living with a foster family, while Chai is at the Petco in the Graceland Shopping Center.

Colony Cats & Dogs is also gearing up for its 16th annual Garden Party fundraiser, taking place on Sunday, October 11, from 3 to 6 p.m. at The Fives in Columbus. Good Day Columbus anchor Kurt Ludlow will host the event, which includes light hors d'oeuvres, desserts, a cash bar, and live music by Meridith Evans. Attendees can participate in a silent auction and raffles for various prizes, including vacation stays and local event tickets. Admission is $55 after September 11 and at the door, with prepaid guests getting priority entrance. Proceeds will support the rescue's ongoing work for animal care and adoption.
