Salt Lake City Hosts Adventure Buddies Day for Pet Adoption

Organized by the Best Friends Pet Adoption Center, the event is part of a larger initiative by Best Friends Animal Society, a national nonprofit that has seen success in cities across the United States. Currently, about 250,000 dogs are in need of homes in shelters nationwide, according to the organization.

Julie Castle, CEO of Best Friends Animal Society, stated, “It’s so much fun to take dogs out of the shelter, treat them to a pup cup and let them enjoy being a dog, and their outing might just be what it takes for them to find a loving home.”

Participants were encouraged to showcase their dogs' personalities on social media, which helps shelters better match dogs with potential adopters based on lifestyle compatibility.

Claudia Rice, a local events coordinator, noted that many businesses are accustomed to hosting events with dogs and provided participants with a list of recommended local adventure spots.

The event allowed for more than just a temporary outing; participants also had the option to foster or adopt the dogs if they found a suitable match. The shelter offers outings daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
