Tributes Honor British Volunteers Killed in Romania Dog Rescue Crash

Serena Nuth, Condon's sister, expressed how both women dedicated their lives to animal rescue work, stating, "They chose to give their time, energy, and hearts to rescuing dogs because it meant everything to them." Condon, who was described as being entirely devoted to animals, died alongside Harvey-Purkiss, sharing a mutual passion for this cause.

The women were in Romania to collect dogs for Homeward Bound, a UK-based organization helping street dogs from Turkey. Following the incident, it was confirmed that seven dogs perished, two were missing, and one was safely accounted for. Fundraising efforts for the families of both women have been initiated, as they face significant expenses.

Wellingborough Eco Hub remembered Condon as a "much-loved and dedicated volunteer" with a "beautiful heart" who selflessly helped others. Viv Wilkinson, a volunteer at Northamptonshire charity Animals in Need, shared that Condon helped her acquire two of her dogs and described her as "incredible and caring."

Broomfield Women and Girls Football Club, where Harvey-Purkiss played, praised her kindness and passion for the game, stating she had a wonderful sense of humor and was beloved by her teammates. She significantly contributed to the Essex women's football community across various levels, including 11-a-side and walking football.

The Chelmsford Litter Wombles also highlighted Harvey-Purkiss's dedication as a volunteer, complimenting her hard work and passion for helping stray animals. Springfield Football Club recognized her as a constant presence at recreational sessions, emphasizing her eagerness to introduce new players to the sport.

The Foreign Office has indicated that while it has not been approached for assistance, its staff are prepared to support British nationals abroad at all times.
