University of Missouri Faculty Honored with Zoetis Awards for Research and Teaching Excellence

Two faculty members from the University of Missouri have been recognized with Zoetis awards by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

Wenjun Ma, a professor of virology in the College of Veterinary Medicine and the School of Medicine, received the Zoetis Award for Veterinary Research Excellence. This award honors individuals whose research significantly advances veterinary medicine. Ma, noted for his work on influenza viruses and zoonotic infectious diseases, is acknowledged internationally for his contributions to the field.

Tamara Hancock earned the Zoetis Distinguished Veterinary Teacher Award, which recognizes her impactful role in veterinary education through exceptional teaching, mentorship, and leadership. As an assistant teaching professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Hancock is celebrated for fostering supportive learning environments. The award is determined by student votes and reflects her influence on the academic and personal development of her students.
