The shelter expressed gratitude to supporters who followed Gelato’s journey, shared his story, and contributed to his care. Gelato arrived at the shelter in late June after being discovered with other kittens. His spinal injury rendered him unable to use his back legs, which prompted staff to initially create a mobility device using cardboard, rulers, zip ties, and toy car wheels. An engineer later designed a more durable wheelchair for him using 3D printing technology.
Gelato's new family has been advised they will need to continue working with a veterinarian to manage ongoing therapy and daily care.
