Steven Parise, an organizer of the event, noted that the fundraiser has grown since its inception in 2019, with increasing turnout and pet adoptions each year. The location in front of Petco is strategic, attracting animal lovers who are already shopping there. "This is just great to see everybody coming together... It feels great, and it’s good knowing that they’re getting the attention that they deserve too," Parise said.
The Rescue Roundup serves as one of the largest fundraisers for Community Paws. Proceeds from the silent auction and raffles support the pet food pantry, wellness clinic, and assistance for pets belonging to survivors of domestic abuse. Parise mentioned, "We’ve seen [the need for] our pantry... just grow tremendously this year. We’re looking for both dry dog food and cat food."
Local rescue organizations, including Lucky 7 Dog Rescue, also participated in the event to gain support. Olivia Biskobing, a representative from Lucky 7, highlighted their ongoing need for fosters and volunteers, particularly due to their collaboration with overcrowded shelters in the south. "We just always need people willing to foster, even if it’s temporarily," Biskobing stated.
She expressed appreciation for the community's involvement, adding, "I love seeing the rescue community show up and I love seeing the community come out and support rescue in general. It’s really cool to see all of these animals that are here today that need homes looking for their forevers."
For those unable to attend, organizers encouraged following the rescues on social media to stay updated on their needs.
