The expo, organized by the Chautauqua County Humane Society (CCHS), creates a pet-friendly environment, encouraging families to bring dogs, confident cats, and other pets who can safely enjoy the day. It aims to celebrate the bond between people and animals, offering interactive exhibitions, agility demonstrations, wildlife education, and hands-on learning stations suitable for all ages.
New to the Rescue Village this year is Westfield Stray Cat Rescue, joining other participants such as Chautauqua County Humane Society, Happy Bark, Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, Paws Along the River, Phoenix Humane Society of Greater Cattaraugus Inc., and Small Town Shelter. This inclusion emphasizes that the event caters to both dogs and cats, providing opportunities to adopt friendly adult cats and playful kittens.
The Rescue Village also highlights organizations like Nola's Angels Horse Rescue and TSC Wildlife Rescue and Wild Creatures, focusing on the care of farm animals, exotics, and wildlife in the region.
CCHS officials stated, "Most importantly, the Rescue Village provides a meaningful chance to help animals in need. With shelters experiencing high intake numbers, adopting a pet at the expo not only changes one life, but it also opens space for the next animal who needs help."
Pet Expo '26 is supported by sponsors including Supportive Divorce Solutions, Happy Hounds Hotel and Day Spa, with media sponsorship from The Post-Journal. Tickets can be purchased at chqhumane.org.
