LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — The Brandywine Valley SPCA has accepted 52 dogs voluntarily surrendered by Dogtown Ranch Sanctuary Rescue and Rehab in Rockdale, Texas, amid allegations of animal mistreatment. This initiative is part of a larger effort involving numerous animal welfare organizations following disturbing reports from volunteers who captured photos and videos of the facility's conditions. Brandywine Valley SPCA has committed to providing medical check-ups and necessary care for the dogs, with plans to find them homes. A team of over a dozen staff members was involved in assessing and transporting the dogs to a temporary shelter where they will be cared for as they prepare for adoption. One dog was found in critical condition, severely underweight and barely responsive, prompting immediate transport to an emergency veterinarian.
Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore stated that his office will continue to monitor conditions at Dogtown Ranch and respond to credible evidence of animal cruelty. Adam Lamb, CEO of Brandywine Valley SPCA, expressed gratitude for the voluntary surrender, emphasizing the organization's focus on providing care for the dogs and facilitating their transition to new homes.
Lamb acknowledged the community's support in this endeavor and appealed for donations to help in the immediate care of these animals while continuing to support existing shelter efforts.
