Jonesboro Animal Services is urging the community to assist in animal care as they seek to increase dog adoptions. Kayleigh England, the Adoption Rescue Coordinator, emphasized the need for various supplies, stating, "We take in homeless animals and try to find them a home. And when people aren't adopting, those animals aren't finding homes."

To support this initiative, the organization is hosting a Stock the Shelter Drive, which is collecting essential items such as dog food, cat food, laundry detergent, and cleaning supplies.
In addition to accepting donations, the shelter is promoting dog adoptions by offering a free lifetime microchip for each adopted dog. England explained the microchip’s value: "When we implant the microchip, if your dog gets loose, all animal facilities, vet clinics, shelters, and humane societies have a microchip scanner. We scan every single dog brought to us. And if a number pops up on that scanner, it links it back to the owner.”
England reported that the shelter takes in between 100 and 150 dogs each month and encouraged potential pet owners to prioritize adoption over purchasing from breeders.
Donations for the Stock the Shelter Drive will be accepted throughout October at the Jonesboro Municipal Building or at the Jonesboro Animal Services location at 6119 East Highland Drive.
