Haven Humane Society Hosts Free Adoption Event Starting September 18

CEO Jim Lewis noted that the shelter has seen a record intake of kittens this summer and has been operating at or above capacity for several months. He expressed hope that the event will facilitate finding permanent homes for more animals.

Lewis emphasized his commitment to addressing the stray crisis in Northern California, stating, "The sourest person gets a smile when they see a kitten or puppy, or see a heartwarming story about a dog finding its forever home. I think deep inside of us all we want to help with pets in any way we can, and the need is still just out there."

He also mentioned efforts to strengthen ties between Haven and local rescues to expand their network of fosters, highlighting a continual desire for growth in this area.

During the Empty the Shelters event, all cats and dogs will be spayed, vaccinated, and free to adopt. The shelter is located at 7449 Eastside Road, Anderson and will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, as well as from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the PetSmart on Hilltop Drive in Redding from Wednesday to Sunday.
