Federal Fremantle MP Josh Wilson has secured $2.46 million from the Australian Government to fund these improvements. This funding commitment was made in response to community requests for better amenities at the northern end of the dog beach since 2022, as part of the lead-up to the 2025 election.
Wilson, who is a regular swimmer at South Beach, emphasized the importance of the area to the community. He expressed his satisfaction with the project's progress from commitment to action, noting that the city is moving forward with the designs and upgrades. "This is good government in action - listening to the community, securing funding, and delivering practical improvements that will enhance South Beach for both locals and visitors," he stated.
Additionally, the City of Fremantle has allocated $250,000 in its 2026-27 budget for preliminary civil works at South Beach.
