Since its inception by the Helen Woodward Animal Center in 1999, the Home 4 the Holidays campaign has expanded into a global effort involving over 4,000 rescue organizations, helping more than 22 million pets find loving homes. Blue Buffalo has been a partner in this mission since 2013, addressing another vital need during the holiday season by ensuring shelter pets receive proper nourishment while waiting for adoption.
Each year, the campaign faces significant challenges as shelters confront overcrowding, reduced resources, and increasing medical and supply costs amidst a growing number of pets in need. Over the past nine years, Blue Buffalo has delivered over 800,000 pounds of food to support Helen Woodward Animal Center and its New York partner, Paws Crossed, providing essential meals to shelters on both coasts. This year, the donated food will benefit around 40 local animal welfare organizations.
Gabriel Vinas, Business Unit Director of Dog Feeding at Blue Buffalo, expressed the company's commitment to providing high-quality, natural food for pets, emphasizing that every pet deserves to be treated like family. Helen Woodward Animal Center Vice President of Development, Renee Resko, acknowledged Blue Buffalo's significant contributions, stating that the food donation arrives at a critical time and plays a crucial role in supporting shelters across the country.
