The complaints that led to the inspection centered around unsanitary conditions at the 2.5-acre property operated by the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation. While the facility was previously licensed until 2023 for a maximum of 100 dogs, the recent inspection revealed 251 animals on site.
No animals were seized during the inspection; however, authorities ordered Blair to seek veterinary treatment for three dogs and to address deficiencies related to housing and sanitation.
Blair has expressed that the pressures of the coronavirus pandemic have impacted private animal rescues like hers. In a video posted on Facebook, she emphasized the need for support in animal welfare, highlighting her efforts to promote spay and neuter surgeries aimed at reducing the stray pet population and finding homes for animals in her care.
At 67 years old, Blair has been a long-time advocate for "bully breed" dogs, including pit bulls. She appealed for donations to support her organization and called for collective action to improve conditions for abandoned animals. "This is the animal rescue community saying, 'We want a better life,'" she stated, urging everyone, including authorities, to contribute to animal welfare.
