On Monday, detectives from the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of possible animal cruelty at a residence in Washington. Authorities discovered multiple dogs in severely poor condition, living in unsanitary environments with inadequate access to food and water. Many of the dogs were underweight and displaying signs of injuries.
All dogs were removed from the property and have since received medical care. In light of these developments, Desert Hot Springs has chosen to suspend its partnership with Pity Project PNW as the allegations are further investigated. The city is cooperating with law enforcement and intends to review and enhance its protocols for collaborations with animal rescue organizations moving forward.
The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details regarding potential charges or the current status of the inquiry have been disclosed.
