Pasadena Humane is encouraging the community to adopt dogs as it faces a seasonal decrease in adoptions while continuing to receive a significant number of animals in need. From September 10-13, adoption fees for all dogs aged six months and older will be reduced to $25 to help accommodate this situation.

As summer vacations conclude and routines return to normal with schools and work, adoptions often slow down. However, the influx of animals arriving at the shelter does not decrease.
Chris Ramon, President & CEO of Pasadena Humane, noted, “Last Saturday was one of our busiest intake days in recent memory. In a single day, 48 animals—33 cats and 15 dogs—came into the shelter. With animals continuing to arrive every day, we need the community’s help. Adopting a dog right now not only changes that dog’s life but also creates critical space for the next animal who needs us.”
Currently, the shelter is caring for over 450 animals, including more than 150 dogs. This total encompasses animals waiting for adoption, those in foster homes, and strays awaiting reunion with their owners. Larger dogs are particularly in need of adoptive homes.
The reduced adoption fee promotion will be in effect from September 10 to September 13, applicable to all dogs over six months. All adopted dogs will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to leaving the shelter.
