Bonita Animal Shelter to Close Permanently on October 15

The Bonita animal shelter will permanently close on October 15, relocating all operations to Santee. The facility is asking the public to foster or adopt pets before the move to ease the transition for both staff and animals.

County officials emphasize that the new Santee location will feature upgraded medical areas, redesigned kennels aimed at reducing stress, and enhanced spaces for animal care and socialization. The new shelter address is 452 Riverview Parkway, Santee, CA 92071.

Once operational, the Santee Animal Shelter will serve residents in the County’s unincorporated areas. Despite the move, field services, licensing, and community support will continue for those living near Bonita.
