Broward Animal Care to Waive Adoption Fees for Dogs and Cats Until Sept. 30

Broward County Animal Care, in collaboration with the BISSELL Pet Foundation, will waive adoption fees for eligible dogs and cats from September 18 to 30 as part of the national Empty the Shelters campaign. While the foundation will cover the adoption fees, adopters will still need to pay the Broward County pet registration fee.

Doug Brightwell, director of Broward County Animal Care, stated, "Every adoption changes two lives—the life of the pet going home and the life of the animal that can be helped because space has opened at the shelter." This partnership aims to eliminate financial obstacles for residents wishing to adopt.

Animal Care emphasized that each adoption not only creates space for new animals entering the shelter but also reduces stress for current residents, allowing for greater individualized attention from staff and volunteers.
