Bonnie Caspersen, the owner of The Cat’s Familiar cat café in Gardiner, Maine, has initiated a nonprofit organization named Kitty Coven. The first project for the nonprofit involves rescuing four littermates currently receiving veterinary care in foster homes. These cats will be available for adoption at the café once they are ready.

Caspersen stated that the rescue has raised $97 toward a target of $994. She emphasized the community need for a safe gathering spot, saying, "This is something that Gardiner has needed for a very long time." She also highlighted the importance of having cats at the café to attract visitors, adding that even small donations could help reach their goal.
