The event is set for Saturday, October 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring adoptable dogs and cats, along with local vendors and POPP merchandise. Sponsored by a grant from McCurley Subaru in partnership with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), the adoption fees are $150 for dogs and $50 for cats. Throughout October, discounted adoption fees will also be available.
All pets available for adoption from POPP are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Grace Clark from POPP noted that the event will showcase a diverse array of animals, including huskies, pit bulls, and various cat breeds. Some animals have been available longer due to challenges in traditional adoption settings.
Clark emphasized that the event allows potential adopters to meet animals they might not encounter elsewhere. For those uncertain about adopting, POPP offers foster-to-adopt options to facilitate a better match between families and pets.
“We want these homeless pets to find the right home, not just any home,” Clark said. Existing dog owners are encouraged to bring their pets to the event to observe potential new companions in a social setting.
Additionally, individuals interested in supporting POPP beyond adoption can visit the organization’s website for volunteer opportunities, including fostering animals and assisting at events or the clinic in Pasco. With many animals in need of homes, the community is encouraged to attend and find a new family member.
