The center is named after Dash Goff, who contributed $1 million to A-State's veterinary program. Goff is a noted thoroughbred horse owner and breeder; his father, Gene Goff, owned the famous racehorse Nodouble, who won the Arkansas Derby in 1968.

Dr. Heidi Banse, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, expressed gratitude for Goff's significant commitment to the institution and its students, emphasizing his support for the future of veterinary education in Arkansas.

The new facility will provide students with hands-on opportunities through laboratories focused on skills like hoof care and ultrasound. It includes eight equine stocks, three stalls, and an equipment storage area to aid in the training of veterinary students in equine restraint and procedural skills.

Conveniently located near the University Farm and Agricultural Teaching and Research Center, the Dash Goff Center is designed to ensure students receive comprehensive training that prepares them to meet the needs of horses and their owners.

Banse highlighted the importance of the center in delivering a competency-based veterinary curriculum. The facility is expected to prepare veterinary students to provide high-quality care for both companion and performance horses in Arkansas and the surrounding Mid-South region.

Inside the barn, visitors will find a plaque honoring Dr. Doyne Hamm, a respected equine veterinarian who served the Goff family for many years.
