El Paso County Deputies and Firefighters Rescue Woman and Dog from Fountain Creek

Patrol deputies from the Sheriff's Office quickly responded and found an adult female trapped in Fountain Creek within a culvert. The rushing water had risen to her neck, also endangering her dog.

To access the scene, deputies cut through a fence, and alongside personnel from the Stratmoor Hills Fire District and the Security Fire Department, they removed a grate from the culvert to reach both the woman and her dog.

First responders worked in unison to safely pull them from the water. El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal praised the efforts, stating, "I want to thank our deputies and the fire personnel from Stratmoor Hills and Security Fire Departments for their quick response and selfless actions. This is what we expect from our first responders—working together, acting quickly, and putting others’ lives before their own. I am proud of everyone who responded to this call and grateful for their commitment to protecting our community.”
