April Gibson, the Executive Director, announced that staff members will be celebrating this Saturday from 9 AM to 4 PM, during which the Shelter will be closed for customer service.
In addition, Gibson introduced a new initiative aimed at barn owners seeking natural pest control. She shared the story of Benny, a one-eared cat rescued from the streets, noting that many cats prefer outdoor environments over confined spaces. The newly established Working Barn Cat Program requires owners to provide food and shelter for the cats, while the felines will help control pests.
The Shelter is also preparing for its first Wicked Whiskers Brunch, set to take place on Saturday, October 24, at A Taste of Ohio Wine, Bourbon, and Beer. The 21-and-over event encourages costumes and aims to raise support for the animals. Gibson mentioned that the Tiny Tap will continue its Feral Felines event in January, February, and April, with efforts to enhance this new brunch with a larger turnout.
