SCRAPS volunteers first encountered Journey at a local feeding station, where a camera revealed he was struggling with a severely injured leg. After several attempts, the rescue team captured him during the early morning hours.

Morrell explained that due to the severity of his injury, a veterinary team had to amputate Journey's leg. Following his recovery, Journey was placed in a foster home to help him become socialized.

However, Journey escaped from this foster care, triggering a search for the missing black cat. He was missing for 12 days before being spotted again by a camera at the original feeding station.

Remarkably, Journey traversed the city, making his way back to where he knew he could find food and safety. Morrell noted that he traveled from the East End to South Hill, near the Co-op gas station. Once volunteers spotted him on camera, they allowed him some time to rest before successfully recapturing him.

SCRAPS has since renamed him Journey, highlighting the cat's remarkable adventure. He is currently in another foster home, continuing his healing process and preparing for adoption.

Morrell emphasized that every cat has a story to tell and that Journey’s experience underlines the dedicated efforts of SCRAPS volunteers in caring for vulnerable cats in the Moose Jaw community. The organization supports cat colonies throughout the area, providing veterinary care and helping over 200 cats find homes each year. Journey's unexpected journey has led him to a new opportunity for a safe and loving home.
