Hanafin was known as an animal rescuer and a veterinary technician. Reports indicate that she and her son had been in disputes regarding the cats living in the home.
The MSPCA-Angell has stated that the surrendered cats have various medical needs, and those needing treatment will receive care prior to becoming available for adoption. Some of the cats may be ready for adoption as soon as this week, while others will remain in the organization’s care for a longer period.
Chris Schindler, Director of Law Enforcement at MSPCA-Angell, expressed condolences for Hanafin's family and highlighted the organization's commitment to ensuring the well-being of the cats. The influx of cats has strained shelter resources, prompting MSPCA-Angell to seek donations, volunteers, and foster homes to assist in their care.
