PHOENIX — A new initiative in the Valley aims to give overlooked dogs a second chance at adoption. Heidi’s Village recently introduced the “Village Dogs” program, which began last month and focuses on dogs from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control that have not been adopted despite being healthy and non-euthanized.

Dana Klose, development and marketing manager at Heidi’s Village, stated that these dogs simply require more exposure to potential adopters. "Since we’ve been able to bring them over from Maricopa County, they’ve had the change of venue. We’re getting more exposure,” she said, highlighting the program's goal of facilitating adoptions.
The pilot program started with eight dogs, and as of now, two have already been successfully adopted. The adoption fee is currently set at $100, which includes spaying or neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, and thorough veterinary checks.
This comprehensive approach offers a solid package for new pet owners, allowing these dogs to transition smoothly into their forever homes.
