Free Vaccine and Microchip Clinic Hosted by SQSPCA and Five Star Subaru in Oneonta

SQSPCA medical staff will provide free rabies and distemper vaccines, along with microchips for both dogs and cats. This is the first time the celebration is being held at the dealership after several years of collaboration on various events.

SQSPCA Executive Director Stacie Haynes expressed enthusiasm for the event, highlighting Five Star Subaru's positive impact on the community. In prior years, Subaru Loves Pets Month was marked by low-cost spay/neuter clinics and adoption events, but this year's focus on free vaccinations and microchips is particularly exciting.

Pet owners attending the clinic are encouraged to bring any vaccination history paperwork they may have, although there are no strict eligibility criteria for pets. Funding from Five Star Subaru and the ASPCA has made this service free for pet owners. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to meet adoptable puppies, which will be available for adoption, subject to approval. During the event, all adoption fees will be discounted by 50%.

Family-friendly activities, including snacks and pet-themed giveaways, are planned by dealership staff. Sheila LeMaster, external relations and community impact manager at Five Star Subaru, emphasized the joy pets bring and expressed excitement about collaborating with SQSPCA to help animals find homes and receive necessary care.

Haynes noted that the SQSPCA's new van allows the organization to extend its services beyond Cooperstown, helping pet owners who face transportation challenges or financial obstacles. "Providing vaccines and microchips for free helps remove financial barriers at a time when many are feeling the effects of a tough economic climate,” Haynes stated. “We are grateful for Five Star Subaru's ongoing support of our mission.”
