Dr. Balu emphasizes a compassionate approach that focuses on empathy, education, and building lasting relationships with both pets and their owners. CityVet Moon Valley will offer a comprehensive range of veterinary services, including routine wellness care, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, and urgent care. Dr. Balu also has particular interests in dermatology, ophthalmology, and cardiology, which she aims to integrate into her practice.
As a new practice owner, Dr. Balu aspires to cultivate a neighborhood clinic where clients and staff can forge meaningful connections over time. She stated, "I’ve always wanted to create a practice where relationships really matter. Veterinary medicine is about so much more than treating an illness. It’s about supporting the bond people have with their pets."
Dr. Balu’s journey to veterinary medicine began after her high school graduation, when she joined the Navy in 2006. This experience instilled qualities such as discipline and teamwork, which she carries into her practice. She later attained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University in 2020 while also managing family responsibilities.
Supportive family values have also influenced her career path, particularly observing her mother, an immigrant, navigate small business ownership. This upbringing inspired Dr. Balu's drive toward entrepreneurial ventures and aligns with her goals for CityVet.
At CityVet Moon Valley, Dr. Balu intends to foster a culture of trust and collaboration among her team, ensuring that employees feel valued in their contributions. Her client care philosophy centers around open communication, allowing pet owners the necessary time and support to make informed decisions.
Dr. Balu expressed, "The Navy taught me that people need to know they can count on you, especially when decisions are difficult. Listening without judgment is key to providing quality care."
In addition to clinic operations, Dr. Balu plans to partner with local organizations to enhance access to veterinary care for veterans and their pets, reflecting her commitment to service both within and beyond the clinic.
David Boguslawski, President and CEO of CityVet, remarked, "Dr. Balu brings a unique combination of service, resilience, and compassion to CityVet Moon Valley. We look forward to her establishing a practice that will positively impact the community for many years."
