On Saturday, while Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft unfolded in Pittsburgh, the New England Patriots hosted a Pawtriots Pet Adoption and Draft Watch Party at Patriot Place. The event attracted many fans who were eager to support animal adoption. Running back Terrell Jennings, accompanied by his girlfriend Simone, had initially intended to adopt a dog at the event. Jennings had been considering getting a pet since last year and, after browsing online, Simone encouraged them to attend the adoption event. They quickly found their new companion—a small mixed-breed dog they named TJ, which Jennings described as chill and laid-back, similar to himself.
Long snapper Julian Ashby attended the event primarily to support the initiative and participate in a panel discussion about the draft and dog adoption alongside teammates Andy Borregales and Bryce Baringer, as well as alumni Brian Hoyer, Dan Koppen, and Woodrow Hamilton. However, upon meeting Mable, a friendly brown dog with hazel eyes, he decided he couldn't leave without her. Ashby remarked on her calm demeanor and how well she interacted with other dogs present.
The event was organized in collaboration with local animal organizations, including the Animal Rescue League of Boston, Second Chance, Bay Path Humane Society, Vintage Pet Rescue, and the Potter League. In addition to the players and Dr. Kraft, Patriots chairman & CEO Robert Kraft, Patriots Cheerleaders, and mascot Pat Patriot joined in to take photos with fans and assist in the adoption process. Attendees were also encouraged to bring donations of pet food, toys, and supplies for local shelters.
