PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — The Oregon Humane Society (OHS) launched a special adoption event called "Love is Blind" for Maine coon and Ragdoll cats requiring homes. Adopters will collaborate with an OHS matchmaker to understand the cats' personalities and specific needs. Eleena Fikhman, OHS Director of Operations, stated that the staff has been working diligently to prepare the cats for adoption, and the event's theme is designed to make the experience memorable. She noted, "We often find that the best adoptions are the most unexpected, so we know that sometimes love can truly be blind."
The cats are located at OHS's Portland campus, with their profiles accessible online. This event follows the rescue of over 100 animals from a distressed breeding situation near Salem, requiring substantial medical care. Dr. Steve Kochis, OHS Chief Medical Officer and Co-Interim CEO, highlighted the extensive effort involved, asserting that donor support is crucial for such initiatives.
Adoptions come with updated vaccinations, spaying/neutering, microchipping, and a complimentary exam at OHS’s Community Veterinary Hospital. The organization is open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. More details can be found at oregonhumane.org.
