Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have welcomed a new puppy named Javi into their New York City home. The couple, who host "Live with Kelly and Mark," adopted Javi during an "Adopt a Dog Week" segment featured on the show's October 12 episode. The puppy, a rescue from New Jersey's Pet ResQ Inc., was originally named Lucas before the couple renamed him.

Ripa recounted the moment Consuelos walked into her dressing room holding the puppy, stating, "I saw a different you. I saw a kinder, gentler you." The couple's family already includes adult children Michael, 29, Lola, 25, and Joaquin, 23, as well as another dog named Lena.

On the following episode, aired October 13, Ripa and Consuelos confirmed Javi's official adoption. They mentioned needing to ensure that Javi and Lena would get along, humorously referring to the need for a “chemistry test” before Javi could move in completely. Ripa expressed her excitement about the adoption, sharing her nesting instincts as they prepare for Javi's arrival despite needing to wait for health checks.

Ripa has not disclosed specific preparations for the townhouse, but experts recommend smart storage for pet supplies and easy-to-clean surfaces to create a pet-friendly environment. The couple resides in an Upper East Side townhouse valued at $27 million, a home they purchased in 2013, which Ripa considers their forever home. The residence is noted for its elegant decor, blending art deco and modern styles, and features antique finds from flea markets in Paris.

Reflecting on Javi's adoption, Ripa mentioned how the puppy's presence reminds her of their late shih tzu, Chewie, who passed away in February 2025. She remarked, "I bet Chewie sent Javi here for us," highlighting the emotional significance behind their new family member. Once Javi's medical tests are complete, he will join the family in their spacious 7,796-square-foot townhouse.
