The Capitals' collaboration with Wolf Trap Animal Rescue began with volunteering efforts and has evolved into several joint events, including the canine calendar. Dr. Amber Burton, the Director and Founder of the rescue, emphasized the partnership’s significance, stating it raises awareness about rescuing animals from shelters that lack adopters. "This is kind of their second and last chance," she said.
Several players participated with their own dogs, including Jakob Chychrun with his pet Bruce and Anthony Beauvillier with his dog Bean. Capitals star Alex Ovechkin reinforced the importance of the initiative, describing dogs as integral to life. "If you have a dog, you have a best friend out there," he commented. Beauvillier added, "Whenever you have a chance to pet puppies and dogs, it's always a good day and for a good cause."
The Capitals indicated that the calendar will be released later this fall.
