Kitten with Spinal Injury and Custom Wheelchair Available for Adoption in Cincinnati

CINCINNATI (WKRC) — Gelato, a kitten who gained attention for his unique homemade wheelchair, is now up for adoption at Cincinnati Animal CARE.

Gelato was rescued along with four other kittens, where staff discovered he had a spinal injury. Initially, the shelter's medical team fashioned a wheelchair for him using cardboard, zip ties, and Hot Wheels. An engineer later enhanced this design by creating a more durable wheelchair through 3D printing.

Now ready for adoption, Gelato's new family will need to consult with a veterinarian about ongoing therapy. He requires assistance to urinate and his litter box training is still progressing.
