SeaMonkey Apparel is revitalizing its Fill the Van campaign this October for a third consecutive year, aiming to significantly increase its collection efforts for animal welfare in Manatee and Sarasota counties. Last year, the campaign gathered over 3,200 pounds of pet food and supplies, and the two previous years combined yielded over 4,100 pounds. This October, the initiative aims to enhance its support through donations, financial contributions, retail partnerships, and customer purchases.

Fill the Van was launched in 2024 to aid in restocking the Pet Food Pantry at Manatee County Animal Welfare, creating a way for community members to donate essential items while supporting local animals and their caregivers.

In the 2026 campaign, more than 15 Food and Supply Donation Stations have been established at participating restaurants and retail businesses, which is more than double the number of locations from last year. This expanded network makes it easier for individuals to donate while running errands or dining out. Donors are advised to verify the participation of businesses and their hours before delivering supplies.

This year's beneficiaries include the Humane Society of Manatee County, Friends of Manatee County Animal Welfare, and the newly added Humane Society of Sarasota County. Each organization will use donations to support local animals in various ways, including community food pantries and medical care for shelter animals.

Donors are encouraged to check the current needs list before making contributions. The Humane Society of Manatee County accepts all brands of cat and dog food, while Manatee County Animal Welfare has specific needs such as training treats, canned kitten food, and cleaning supplies.

New participation opportunities include a partnership with DOGPerfect, which will offer a round-up program at checkout throughout October. SeaMonkey Apparel will also introduce coastal-themed designs featuring rescue animals, donating a percentage of sales to the charities involved.

Local business contributions from partners like Swordfish Grill, Cortez Cares, and others will also bolster the campaign's reach. Community involvement can be straightforward: donors can contribute requested items at designated locations or participate in DOGPerfect’s initiative.

The Fill the Van campaign runs throughout October 2026, emphasizing the impact of community involvement on supporting local pets. Donors are encouraged to check donation guidelines and participate in a way that fits their budget, as even small contributions can collectively make a significant difference.
