The Atlantic County Animal Shelter is encouraging pet lovers to find their new canine companion during Adopt-A-Dog Month this October. To facilitate adoptions, the shelter has reduced its fees for all dogs from $110 to $55. This fee covers mandatory sterilization, age-appropriate vaccinations, diagnostic testing, a microchip, and a free veterinary consultation along with free obedience classes.

Adopt-A-Dog Month, established by the American Humane Association in 1981, aims to connect deserving dogs with loving families.

County Executive Dennis Levinson emphasized the importance of giving dogs a second chance, sharing, "My family has rescued 9 dogs and has never been disappointed. These loyal companions enhance our quality of life and may add years to our lives."

The shelter is located at 240 Old Turnpike Road in Pleasantville and welcomes visitors from 1 PM to 4 PM daily, with no appointment necessary. Additionally, the shelter is looking for volunteers to help socialize and walk the dogs, as well as foster dogs waiting for adoption. Interested individuals can call (609) 485-2345 for more information.
