In recent weeks, fake posters bearing the organization's name have been distributed, featuring a phone number not associated with South Pembrokeshire Cat Rescue. These posters directed the public to contact the false number if they found a kitten.

This past Friday, a poorly kitten was reportedly surrendered to two individuals due to a phone call made to one of these fake posters. The person believed they were contacting South Pembrokeshire Cat Rescue.

A spokesperson for the organization expressed deep concern, stating, "We are extremely concerned about this situation because members of the public may reasonably believe that they are contacting or handing an animal to our rescue when they are not."

The rescue clarified that these imposters were unauthorized to represent them and urged the public to verify posters for correct contact information, which should read [email protected] and 07575 131443. They encouraged anyone uncertain about someone's legitimacy to reach out directly before transferring an animal.

Concerns were also raised about individuals unknowingly providing sick or vulnerable kittens to unauthorized persons lacking the necessary care experience. The organization is currently investigating the unauthorized placement of a cat trap in collaboration with Dyfed-Powys Police.

South Pembrokeshire Cat Rescue has asked anyone who has seen the fake posters or been contacted by someone claiming to be a volunteer to reach out. They advised against confronting these individuals and assured the public they are working closely with law enforcement to safeguard animal welfare and prevent misinformation.
