The rescue took place on Wednesday, January 7, during which teams photographed and evaluated each animal, identifying several that needed immediate medical treatment. AVHS praised the collective effort, stating, “Situations like this are complex and fast-moving, and truly take a village.” They highlighted the continuous work of their team in assessing the animals' needs and administering necessary care such as vaccines, deworming, and flea medications.

Rescue organizations from the surrounding region collaborated to ensure long-term care, fostering, and adoption support for the animals involved. The 27 cats taken in by AVHS will undergo microchipping, spaying or neutering, and be placed into foster care as needed before they are adopted into permanent homes.

The shelter expressed gratitude to the community for their swift response with donations, supplies, and offers of assistance, which facilitated the large-scale rescue. “Thank you for showing up—for the cats, for the rescuers, and for one another,” said the organizers, emphasizing the importance of community in animal protection efforts.

AVHS is actively seeking continued community support through donations and fostering. Donations can be made via the shelter’s Amazon wishlist, in person during business hours, or shipped directly to the shelter. Further information on donations and foster applications is available on their website.
