Every morning at the MacLean Cameron Animal Adoption Center in Great Falls, staff members attend to various tasks, from walking dogs to feeding kittens, all in hopes of giving animals a chance to find homes. Among those working tirelessly behind the scenes is Kelcy Allestad, the shelter's Animal Care Coordinator.

Allestad's day-to-day responsibilities vary widely. "I coordinate with the animal care staff here, make sure that animals are getting the best care provided that we can give them. Every day is kind of different — some days it's bottle-feeding kittens, sometimes it's working on training dogs," she explained. In addition, she collaborates with local veterinarians and partners with other shelters and rescues in the region to enhance animal welfare efforts.
Allestad's path to this role began at the front desk of the shelter, where she developed a passion for the work. "It's just the joy that it brings me to see an animal come in in super needy states and then get to go out to a loving home. It's really rewarding," she said.
The MacLean Cameron Animal Adoption Center is currently open for adoptions. Those interested in adopting or volunteering can visit the shelter at 1010 25th Avenue Northeast in Great Falls.
