The MSPCA-Angell is appealing for public support in adopting or fostering cats after accepting over 60 felines this month due to two significant surrender cases. On September 3, the organization took in 35 cats from a voluntary surrender at a Worcester County home, with an additional 10 cats taken in by the Worcester Animal Rescue League.

Following that, on September 18, the MSPCA Northeast Animal Shelter welcomed another 28 cats from a Berkshire County home where the Berkshire Humane Society also took in 25 cats. Most of the cats from that location are adults.
Mike Keiley, Vice President of Animal Protection for MSPCA-Angell, explained that the collaboration with the Massachusetts Animal Shelter Support coalition helps shelters manage large intakes that could be overwhelming for a single organization. The organization's law enforcement officers assisted pet owners in both cases to find alternatives to animal removal, focusing on helping owners who may lack resources.
Currently, MSPCA-Angell has approximately 300 cats and kittens across its four shelters ready for adoption.
