During this period, all adopted pets will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to their adoption. Lafayette residents interested in adding a dog or cat to their family can take advantage of this opportunity to meet available pets.
Shelley Delahoussaye, the manager of the Lafayette Animal Shelter, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, "If you’ve been thinking about adding a pet to your family, this is a great opportunity to visit LASCC and meet some of the animals who are looking for homes. Every adoption makes a difference, and we’re grateful to BISSELL Pet Foundation for helping us connect more pets with loving families."
The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Residents are encouraged to visit, meet the animals, and learn about the adoption process before deciding on a pet that suits their household.
The "Empty the Shelters" program, started in 2016 by the BISSELL Pet Foundation, aims to minimize adoption costs and has facilitated the adoption of over 431,000 pets through various participating shelters in the U.S. and Canada since its inception.
