Initially struggling in a boarding facility, Tommy thrived once he was placed in a foster home by two women who answered a plea from the rescue. According to STAB Rescue, Tommy would benefit from being adopted specifically by a lesbian couple. In a humorous Facebook post, the rescue stated, "After careful consideration, absolutely zero scientific research, and Tommy making his preferences everybody else’s problem, we have determined that this man needs LESBIANS."

Tommy has expressed a strong aversion to men and seeks a home filled exclusively with women who will pamper him. The rescue humorously suggested that his ideal family would refer to him as "our son," provide him with a plethora of toys, and have discussions about his emotional needs over oat milk lattes.

While the social media posts regarding Tommy's search have garnered both positive and negative attention, his supporters at the rescue remain focused on finding him the right match. Alexis Ketover, assistant director of STAB Rescue, shared that while most people find the posts amusing, some have expressed discontent regarding Tommy's preferences.

Tommy has received several adoption applications, which the rescue is currently reviewing. His prospective family must meet specific requirements: no men, a house rather than an apartment, a fenced yard, and the presence of another dog for companionship. Despite his selectiveness, Tommy’s advocates believe that his perfect home is out there, potentially with a loving lesbian couple.
