Lola, a beloved cat, was recently rescued after being trapped in the wall of her family's apartment for nearly a week. Earlier this month, Lola accidentally fell through a hole in the floor on the top level of the building and became stuck upside down.

Her family, along with animal rescuer John Debacker, set traps and installed cameras throughout the building in an effort to locate Lola. Despite their efforts, days turned into a week without success until they began hearing her cries through the wall. They then enlisted the help of local contractor Cathy Lucarello.
Debacker and Lucarello proceeded to tear through the plaster in search of Lola, and their perseverance paid off when they finally spotted some fur. They successfully rescued her from her distressing position. Rescuers estimate that Lola had been trapped for about a week, and they were astonished that she survived without food or water during that time.
“How she survived is beyond miraculous,” Debacker posted on Facebook after the rescue. Afterward, Lola was taken to an emergency veterinarian for treatment of her injuries. Slowly, she began to return to her normal self.
“She’s finally meowing,” one of Lola’s caretakers reported. “She looks like life has been restored in her.” Debacker’s efforts have garnered attention, and those interested can follow his rescue work on Facebook.
