Jalyne Blackwell, a former cheerleader at Louisiana State University (LSU), is now pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in London. Blackwell was drawn to RVC for its exceptional facilities, comprehensive curriculum, and the supportive environment it offers students. She appreciated the chance to learn veterinary medicine while being exposed to diverse perspectives and approaches, which she believes will enhance her education. "I was always taught not to put limits on how an opportunity is supposed to come," she shared, reflecting on her decision to study abroad.
Her philosophy of embracing fear was solidified through experiences such as skydiving, where she learned that fear often separates individuals from transformative opportunities. This mindset of doing things "scared" influenced her choice to study veterinary medicine in London.
Blackwell values kindness as a fundamental quality in others, stating that it can profoundly impact people’s lives and is essential in veterinary medicine. She aims to treat clients and colleagues with empathy and respect, believing that clinical skills must be complemented by good interpersonal relationships.
Inspired by her grandfather, whom she affectionately calls G-diddy, Blackwell attributes much of her motivation to his example of strength and perseverance. She acknowledges that heroes can often be those who support us in everyday ways.
Regarding her broader mission, Blackwell does not focus solely on professional achievements but on becoming the person she is meant to be while using her skills for the benefit of others. She views veterinary medicine as a critical part of that mission, advocating for those without a voice and nurturing her passions.

Currently residing in London, she enjoys exploring the city, reading, and immersing herself in a new culture while focusing on her interests in emergency medicine and equine surgery.
