TACOMA, Wash. – Due to limited space from ongoing construction, the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County is hosting fee-waived cat adoption events this weekend to find homes for cats and kittens. The events will take place on October 11 and 12 at three locations in Pierce County.

On Saturday, October 11, the shelter will be present at Rosewood Café from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and at Rock the Dock Pub & Grill from 3 to 6 p.m. On Sunday, October 12, the event will move to Old Growth Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care Clinic from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lauren Green, the shelter's director of marketing and communications, stated, "While our adoption lobby is under construction and our capacity is limited, we’re getting creative by partnering with local pet-loving businesses to bring the joy of cat adoption directly to our community." The shelter aims to connect with residents and facilitate adoptions during this time.
Currently, there are 128 cats and kittens at the shelter and an additional 378 in foster homes. The shelter will use its veterinary vehicle, S.P.O.T., to transport adoptable animals directly to the events.
The fee-waived adoption includes a wellness exam, initial vaccines, microchip registration, spay or neuter surgery, and a starter bag of food provided by Hill's Pet Nutrition, available while supplies last. For more information on available cats and kittens, visit the Humane Society’s website.
