Humane Fort Wayne Awarded $10,000 Grant for Veterinary Internship Program

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Humane Fort Wayne announced on Thursday that it has received a $10,000 grant from the Taco Bell Foundation. The funding will support a paid veterinary care internship in the summer of 2027 for students aged 16 to 22 who wish to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Jessica Henry, Executive Director of Humane Fort Wayne, stated that the grant provides students with valuable, hands-on experience in the field while helping them explore their career interests.

The Taco Bell Foundation's community grants program is financed by customers who round up their order totals at Taco Bell. Local franchise Team Lyders nominated Humane Fort Wayne for this grant.

Henry expressed gratitude towards the Taco Bell Foundation and the Team Lyders franchise for investing in future generations, emphasizing that these opportunities can turn students' passions into fulfilling careers.

Morgan Tabor, Executive Director of the Taco Bell Foundation, remarked on the significance of community grants, highlighting how they stem from local engagement and generosity, which has resulted in $32 million for organizations supporting youth nationwide.
