A public clinic for low-cost pet vaccinations and microchipping will take place in northern Harford County on Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company, located at 2600 Castleton Rd., Darlington, MD 21034. The clinic will provide vaccinations for dogs, cats, and ferrets, including distemper and Bordetella vaccines for dogs and distemper vaccines for cats. Rabies vaccines will also be available. Each vaccine will cost $15, payable by cash or major credit card, while microchipping will be offered for $25. Additionally, Heart to Heart Mobile Pet Care, LLC will be present to provide nail trims for $20.
Appointments are not necessary, and the event is open to all pet owners, regardless of their location or income level. Amanda Hickman, executive director of the Humane Society of Harford County, emphasized the aim to make preventive healthcare more affordable for families. "We know times are tough, and by helping families save on preventive care like vaccines and microchipping, we hope they’ll be better prepared financially if an emergency arises."
Animals must be at least four months old to receive vaccinations. Organizers have also set forth safety measures for the clinic: dogs should be leashed with a non-retractable leash and properly fitted collar, while cats and ferrets must be transported in secured carriers.
