The program is designed to make it more affordable for residents to adopt pets, with the Bissell Pet Foundation covering the associated costs. The initiative is intended to encourage adoptions and create space for additional animals in need of homes. According to the news release, prior to adoption, all cats and dogs are sterilized, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Typically, adoption fees are $25. As of September 25, early afternoon, there were about 111 dogs and 29 cats available for adoption. Interested residents can visit the animal shelter located at 2626 Holly Road, open from noon to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with last adoption visits ending at 5 p.m.
