Purdue University's College of Veterinary Medicine is expanding its One Health Innovation District to tackle the labor shortage in the veterinary field. Dean Dr. Bret Marsh stated that the development of the One Health Research Institute is key to this initiative.

Dr. Marsh indicated that the expansion will enhance workforce retention and appeal to students, faculty, and staff. Plans include a clinical trials hospital and a veterinary medical education and training center, as well as discussions about a diagnostic laboratory on campus.

He emphasized the potential for new research collaborations in Indianapolis with entities like Elanco, Eli Lilly, and the IU School of Medicine, which could significantly broaden the college's reach.

This expansion, announced earlier this summer, is noted as the largest in the college's history, with an expected completion date of 2032.
