Since its inception, Petszel has collaborated with animal welfare organizations to enhance the adoption experience, focusing on the critical weeks after a family brings a pet home. The initiative has resulted in an average 20% reduction in return rates among partnering shelters, as they utilize Petszel's tools to offer timely and personalized guidance during the adjustment phase.

"We tend to celebrate adoption day as the happy ending. But anyone who has brought a new pet home knows it's really the beginning," said Matt Russell, Co-founder and CEO of Petszel. He noted that reaching one million pets signifies not just a number but one million individual stories and the efforts of shelter and rescue partners dedicated to supporting these new relationships.

The milestone was marked at the Animal Protective Association of Missouri in St. Louis, where Vinny, an 8-week-old kitten, was adopted by Eden, along with his brother. Vinny’s journey from a foster home to adoption highlights the importance of ongoing support after the initial adoption process.

"Every adoption is a new beginning, but our commitment to that pet and family doesn't end when they walk out of our doors," stated Sarah Javier, CEO of the Animal Protective Association of Missouri. She emphasized the significance of providing resources and support to help families navigate the early days together, illustrating the collective dedication of shelters and rescues across the nation to fostering the bond between pets and their owners.
